Giving Back to the Community Tana – a Socially Responsible Company Tana Engineering staunchly believes that businesses should look beyond profit-making and benefit the community they operate in. Tana engages in two different initiatives to give back to the community and contribute to the common good. Firstly, Tana is a member of the Lions Club Addis Ababa.
The Lions Club of Tana Engineering PLC, chartered in 2013, started with 26 of its employees as members and actively works with one of the largest charity organizations to raise money for worthy causes. Secondly, Tana Engineering gives technical education scholarships to trainee-students from Adama Science and Technology University, SOS Children’s Village and Selam Technical and Vocational College in Addis Ababa.
Since 2012, Tana has been welcoming these students at its workshops for cooperative training programs at the end of which assessment of the trainees’ performance is sent to the college. The courses take place for 6 months out of one year and each round accepts 5-7 students for whom Tana provides lunch and transport stipends. The trainees are grateful for the experience at Tana. Mitiku Dandena, an apprentice from Adama Science and Technology University said, “I am pleased that I chose to do my apprenticeship at Tana Engineering. We are currently working on an exciting problem-solving project. This is great!” Hanna Kenenisa, a trainee in 2017 said, “I am very happy to be here with my friends at Tana Engineering as an apprentice. It is a great opportunity for us to be working on the various projects we had in mind during lessons in class. Tana Engineering is huge, well-equipped and also cares about the training we are receiving.”
